THE KINGDOM’S FIELD NOTES

Troops & research: five paths to an army

A strong army depends on unlocked units, research, composition and available capacity. Union of Kingdoms has five troop types. Infantry, archers and cavalry begin at T1; mages and rune wardens enter at T4. There are no T1–T3 arcane troops.

Where each type trains

Infantry trains in the Barracks, archers in the Archery Range and cavalry in the Stable. Mages and rune wardens train in the Academy after it becomes the Arcane Sanctum at level 25. This is the same building, not an additional building plot. The Sanctum keeps research and has two independent training slots, one for each arcane type.

Unlocking the original three types

T1 needs the appropriate training building and no tier-unlock research. For infantry, archers and cavalry, the higher-tier research milestones are Castle and Academy level 10 for T2, 16 for T3, 23 for T4 and 30 for T5. These levels alone do not unlock troops: finish the corresponding research and its dependencies. The training screen shows the requirements still missing.

Unlocking mages and rune wardens

Each arcane T4 unlock needs Castle and Academy level 25 and the T4 unlock research for all three original troop types. Complete the separate mage or rune warden unlock research to train that type. For arcane T5, reach level 30, unlock that type’s T4 and complete its advanced HP, defence and attack research at level 5 before its T5 unlock.

Read the five-type matchups

Infantry has an advantage against archers and rune wardens. Archers counter cavalry and mages. Cavalry counters infantry and mages. Mages counter infantry and rune wardens. Rune wardens counter archers and cavalry. Mirror matchups are neutral. Against a mixed army, the effect depends on the enemy composition; these advantages do not guarantee a win. Tier, troop numbers and research still matter.

Training is not a march

Finish a training order before using its troops. A march also needs an available march slot and must fit your personal march capacity. Troops already gathering, travelling or committed to a rally are not a second available army. Before a larger battle, check wounded troops and the hospital, then choose a force that fits the target and your current bonuses.

When a troop stays locked

Open the locked unit and read every requirement. A finished building upgrade does not finish its research, and one arcane unlock does not unlock the other type. The Academy and Sanctum refer to one building with a changing name. Follow the missing requirement shown by the training panel rather than looking for another Sanctum to construct.

These guides describe the current Open Alpha. Requirements, timers and battle previews shown in the game take precedence as the game evolves.
